MilkOil™ - Indoor/Hemp Seed Oil Information

This solvent-free oil finish provides a protective, water-resistant surface. Use on raw or stained wood, milk-painted pieces, or to revive old wood finishes.

It penetrates to protect from the inside out. Does not leave a surface film that will chip or scratch. This food-contact safe hemp seed oil finish is perfect for use in the kitchen on wood cutting boards, butcher block counters, or stone. Used outside, it can restore the luster of old oil-based paint or revitalize surfaces such as cast iron.

Recommended for indoor use.

  • Surface must be clean and dry. Test on an inconspicuous spot prior to using on an entire piece.

Apply liberally to surface using a clean lint free cloth or brush. Rub gently until it is absorbed into raw wood or milk painted finish. Buff off excess. For additional sheen and protection, add 2-6 coats.

  • What is hemp seed oil?

Furniture hemp seed oil is an all-natural alternative to wax. It will absorb into your milk painted surface, creating a semi-durable finish. Hemp seed oil is great for bringing old finishes to life. It is also great for reviving dry tired wood, metal, leather and more.

    When should I use MilkOil™ over MilkWax™?

Hemp seed oil is natural, so it’s the ideal finish for customers who have skin sensitivities. It’s a food grade finish that can be used on butcher block counters, kitchen tables, and cutting boards. Hemp seed oil is great for direct sunlight and warm rooms because wax will break down and emulsify in extreme heat. For an extra durable interior top coat, apply a coat of hemp oil and let dry (12 – 24 hours), followed by wax. Remember wax over oil, never oil over wax.

Is MilkOil™ Indoor safe to use on cribs and children’s toys?

Yes! MMS MilkOil™ Indoor/Hemp Seed Oil is food-contact safe, which means it is safe for surfaces that come into contact with a baby's mouth.
