Let’s chat about October’s MMSMP Color of the Month. It’s our orange, Tangerine!

Tangerine reminds us of the dimpled rind of the citrus fruit, pumpkins, and autumn leaves. It's a warm and beautiful addition to our Bohemian collection.

Tangerine is available in our new 100% natural, eco-friendly formula.

So how do you finish your painted pieces? Tangerine changes colors from raw (no finish) to applying finishes. To see how this orange changes with each finish, take a peek at this photo:

Tangerine and Other Colors

Tangerine pairs well with Mustard Seed Yellow, Boxwood, Curio, Arabesque, and Flow Blue.

Now let’s look at a few pieces painted in Tangerine!

A Pop of Color

Tangerine is perfect for all styles, including traditional, modern, bohemian, etc. It looks beautiful when paired with warm whites, neutrals, browns, and wood tones. Tangerine is a warm and inviting shade, orange is perfect for creating a cozy and welcoming atmosphere in your home.

Fall Decor

Fall is here, and there is no better way to celebrate the season than incorporating fall colors into your home decor. Tangerine perfectly captures the essence of fall, making it the perfect color for using on decor items for fall and Halloween! Country Peony created this cute Jack-O-Lantern pot using Tangerine and a terra cotta pot. Learn how to create your own here

Tangerine and The Chippy Look

Tangerine looks so beautiful when it's chipped back. I Restore Stuff created this stunning highboy with a mirror. To create a similar look you can paint your entire piece in a dark color, like Curio, then add Tangerine over the top. MilkWax™ Antiquing can also help add dimension and authentic age to your piece.

So how do you achieve this look? First, you'll need to start by prepping your piece by giving it a thorough clean, then sanding. Next, mix up your MilkPaint™ and paint 2-3 layers onto your piece. Let the paint dry, then use a scraper or sandpaper to remove small sections of the paint until you achieve the desired level of distressing. Finally, apply a finish to prevent the piece from chipping further. We recommend using MilkCoat™ to protect your newly finished furniture and enjoy its unique, chippy charm.

Tangerine and White Wax

Want to soften the look of a Tangerine-painted piece? Add some MilkWax™ White as a finish to lighten the finish and add a white-washed feel. A For the Love Creations customer lightened up this piece by white waxing it.
