Carolina Dune

Let’s chat about August’s MMSMP Color of the Month. It’s our warm neutral, Carolina Dune

Our warm neutral is lighter and less almond than Marzipan. It’s the color of sandy peaks rippled with lines from the Outer Banks breeze.

Carolina Dune is available in our new 100% natural, eco-friendly formula.

So how do you finish your painted pieces? Carolina Dune changes colors from raw (no finish) to applying finishes. To see how this neutral changes with each finish, take a peek at this photo:

Carolina Dune and the Coastal Collection

Carolina Dune is a part of the Coastal Color Collection. It pairs well with the collection's colors, Teal Ocean, By the Sea, Aqua Sky, Linen, and Sunkissed.

The Coastal Collection is perfect for creating a beachy look! For the Love Creations created this beautiful beachy piece. By the Sea was used to paint the side table. Then to create a driftwood look on the woven drawer, the following colors were layered: Trophy, Linen, Carolina Dune, and Farmhouse White. Clear, White, and Grime Gray MilkWax™ were used to finished it up.

Now let’s look at a few pieces painted in Carolina Dune!

The Perfect Neutral

Carolina Dune is perfect for all styles, including beachy, modern, bohemian, etc. Thirteen Hundred North Design painted this mid-mod dresser in our warm neutral. We love the bohemian feel it added to this piece. It looks beautiful when paired with warm whites, neutrals, browns, and wood tones.

Revivals Furniture Co. used Carolina Dune to create this perfectly neutral piece! The body of the piece was painted in Carolina Dune, then the paint was watered down and the drawers were stained. MilkWax™ Saddle Brown was used over the entire piece.

Carolina Dune and MilkWax™ White

Want to soften the look of a Carolina Dune-painted piece? Add some color MilkWax™ White as a finish to lighten the finish and add a beachy feel. Lily Fields Vintage lightened up this piece by white waxing it.

Adding Definition with MilkWax™ Grime Gray

MilkWax™ Grime Gray is great for using on lighter colors to add subtle aging and to define detailed areas on a piece of furniture. For the Love Creations refinished this lovely side table in Carolina Dune. The piece was finished in MilkWax™ Clear and a touch of Grime Gray in the carved and etched details to add definition.

Pair with Typewriter

Revivals Furniture Co. painted this dresser base in Typewriter. For a high contrast look, the drawers were painted in Carolina Dune with MilkWax™ Antiquing over the top. We are loving this combo!

Lightening Colors with Carolina Dune

Revivals Furniture Co. created this custom Sage using 2 parts Boxwood to 1 part Carolina Dune. The piece was then topped with MilkWax™ Saddle Brown. We love the chippiness and crackling on this piece!
